When the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night, fans of the canucks didn’t exactly take it too well. Impassioned people quickly took to the streets and soon a full-on riot tore through downtown Vancouver.
As with so many choices made on adrenaline and beer… it didn’t seem like such a good idea in the morning. The wreckage of several burned-out cars, including two squad cars (pictured on fire above), littered the streets, and shop windows were shattered. Reuters reports that one embarrassed person wrote, “On behalf of my team and my city I’m sorry,” on a boarded-up storefront.
No fatalities were reported, but police won’t disclose the number of arrests or injuries.
Even if you’re a huge Canucks fan, you’ve got to admit that the team probably wouldn’t approve of the damage done to the city they call home.
