Despite a flurry of tweets that announcing a supposed addition to the British invasion on Monday (July 4), a representative denies that Victoria Beckham gave birth to an expected daughter as the U.S. celebrated Independence Day.
Although the date is in fact the couple’s wedding anniversary (happy 12th, you two!), reports that the former Spice Girl and her soccer-playing husband David Beckham were scheduled for a C-section turned out to be false.
That didn’t stop ebullient fans from taking the rumor and running with it, though, even tweeting a supposed name (Felicity) and birth weight (5 lbs, 8 oz.).
Expectant daddy David Beckham fueled the rumor over the weekend at an event for his team, the L.A. Galaxy, when he said, “We got married on the Fourth of July, 12 years ago, Monday, so it’s a special day for us, it always has been and always will be.”
A representative for the couple tells the Daily Mail that baby Beckham — who joins brothers Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six — is actually due next week. Maybe Posh can hold off until Bastille Day (July 14)?
