karlie kloss victorias secret fashion show native american headdress 2012 Victoria's Secret apologizes, removes Native American headdress from fashion show broadcastThe Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is usually little more than an annual excuse for one company to shamelessly promote its product, while viewers shamelessly ogle scantily clad models. But this year’s special sparked a controversy before it even aired when photos of model Karlie Kloss in a Native American headdress hit the Internet.

Many organizations, including Zap2it, questioned the wisdom of this potentially offensive outfit and Victoria’s Secret has issued an official apology via their Facebook page:

“We are sorry that the Native American headdress replica used in our recent fashion show has upset individuals.

“We sincerely apologize as we absolutely had no intention to offend anyone.

“Out of respect, we will not be including the outfit in any broadcast, marketing materials nor in any other way.”

Meanwhile, Kloss apologized on her own via Twitter:

This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is scheduled to air Dec. 4 on CBS.
