karlie kloss victorias secret fashion show Karlie Kloss's Native American inspired Fashion Show outfit: Where's Victoria's Secret's apology?

No Doubt released a new video for their single “Looking Hot” over this past weekend, and the music video sparked almost instantaneous outrage from the Native American community. In the video, Gwen Stefani can be seen traipsing around in sexy costumes inspired by traditional Native American outfits while dancing around teepees and fighting off cowboys.

The response was so overwhelmingly negative that No Doubt pulled the video from their YouTube page and issued a heartfelt apology for offending anyone. “Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialize Native American people, their culture or their history,” the statement reads. “We sincerely apologize to the Native American community and anyone else offended by this video. Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are.”

With that incident so fresh in our minds, we were shocked that model Karlie Kloss sported a Native American-inspired outfit during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which took place last night. Kloss wore a long red-and-white headdress and a leopard print bikini, as well as some seemingly Native American-inspired turquoise jewelry. Why was it deemed okay for her to walk the runway in an outfit that many will likely deem culturally insensitive, and is Victoria’s Secret planning to issue an apology?

Of course, it can be argued that the Fashion Show is all in good fun (and, technically, many of these outfits can be technically considered offensive) but we think, in light of the recent No Doubt controversy, it was a bad move to keep this piece in the show. It will be interesting to see if Kloss’s outfit is included in the show when it airs on Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. We bet people will get a bit more up in arms about the outfit if it does make it to the final cut, but we also have a feeling it will open up a conversation about how sensitive people should be about potentially touchy situations like this.

What do you all think? Should Victoria’s Secret issue an apology for Kloss’s outfit or should viewers take a chill pill?
