vikings shameless robin roberts snacks 'Vikings' renewed for Season 3; 'Shameless' switches to comedy for EmmysTV news and notes:

– History has picked up Season 3 of “Vikings,” ordering 10 episodes for 2015. The popular historical drama is currently four episodes into its second season. Executive VP of History Dirk Hoogstra says in a statement, “‘Vikings’ has taken viewers by storm and has established itself as one of the most compelling, visually stunning dramas on television. With its large, passionate and loyal fan base, ‘Vikings’ has cemented History firmly in the scripted series genre, just as we are the leaders in reality television.”

“Shameless” has decided that it’s a comedy, at least for the purposes of the Emmy Awards. The Showtime series has competed as a drama in past seasons, but it’s moving to what’s perceived as a less crowded comedy field for 2014. The move follows a similar one by Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black,” which was a drama entry at this year’s Golden Globes but is going comedy for the Emmys. [EW]

– “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts will guest judge for the
first time alongside Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba on “Dancing with the Stars”
on Monday, March 31. The remaining 10 celebrities commemorate “The Most
Memorable Year Of Their Life” with their respective dances.

– TNT’s new drama “Proof” has added Matthew Modine as Ivan Turing, an eccentric billionaire who is dying of cancer and willing to put all his resources into exploring life after death. The show is executive produced by Kyra Sedgwick and stars Jennifer Beals as Dr. Kathryn Russo, a surgeon dealing with the devastating loss of her son. [Deadline]

– ABC’s new upstairs-downstairs drama “The Club” has added two new cast members in the form of “Breaking Bad” alum Betsy Brandt and “Wizards of Waverly Place” actress Maria Canals-Barrera. The show is set at an exclusive country club where Brandt’s Leslie finds her life in shambles when her husband (and club owner) runs off with his father’s trophy wife, while Canals-Barrera plays Hilda, the house manager of the country club. – MTV has picked up a second season of its dating show — er, “social experiment” — “Are You the One?” The show’s first season, which concludes Tuesday, has been a ratings success, leading its late-night time period among the young viewers MTV targets. No word yet on a premiere date for Season 2.

– BBC America has commissioned its first original comedy series. It’s a mockumentary called “Almost Royal,” following two young British aristocrats (Ed Gamble and Amy Hoggart) as they leave their sheltered manor home for a tour of the United States. It’s set to premiere June 21, following the season finale of “Orphan Black.”
