On the heels of releasing a full-length trailer for the premiere episode, FX has released the “American Horror Story: Freak Show” main titles, which are just as terrifying as the opening credits have been for each of the previous three seasons — with the added feature of the sound of twisting balloons that will set your teeth on edge.

In fact, if you look closely at the mechanical circus, this might be the (ahem) freakiest set of credits yet. There’s a three-legged creature at the 40-second mark that perhaps pushes the boundaries of what needs to be blurred on television and a two-headed person at the end where the two heads are kissing each other. Somehow we don’t think that’s what Sarah Paulson’s two-headed woman will be doing — but you really never know with this show.

Just one more week, “AHS” fans. “Freak Show” premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
