After first reporting to a federal prison in December 2010, actor Wesley Snipes has been released. He’s not free to return to his everyday life just yet, though. Instead, Snipes was transferred to the New York Community Corrections Office, TMZ reports. The office will be in charge of overseeing his home confinement.
Snipes will be under house arrest for the remainder of his sentence, ending July 19. He was originally convicted of tax evasion in 2008, after being charged with failing to file tax returns from 1999-2001.
The actor was denied an appeal in 2010, before he was locked up, and another in 2011. Snipes’ most recent movie, “Gallowwalker,” which is set for a 2013 release. It was filmed in 2006, as Snipes’ tax problems were becoming public knowledge.
