The legendary Whitney Houston, whose life was plagued by addiction, has died at age 48, publicist Kristen Foster confirms. The circumstances surrounding her death, including the cause and location, have yet to be revealed. She died Saturday, Feb. 11.

Houston is survived by her 18-year-old daugher, Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown, with ex-husband Bobby Brown. She was dating singer Ray-J and was seen out with him one week prior to her death. Two days before she died, Houston performed “Jesus Loves Me” at the Kelly Price & Friends Unplugged: For The Love Of R&B pre-Grammy event.

TMZ reports that she died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.

Born August 9, 1963 in New Jersey, Houston’s 1985 debut album, “Whitney Houston,” won a Grammy Award and has sold over 25 million copies worldwide. Her second album, “Whitney,” made her the first female ever to generate four No. 1 singles from one album and the first artist to have 7 No. 1 singles consecutively (breaking a record held by The Beatles). 

At the time of her death, Houston holds 2 Emmy Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, and has sold over 170 million albums worldwide. She is also a noted actress, having starred in such films as “The Bodyguard,” “Waiting to Exhale,” and the upcoming “Sparkle,” set for release in August.
