Usher-beyonce Who showed up at a D.C. school gymnasium Tuesday to watch President Obama sign the Edward M. Kennedy "Serve America" Act?

Among the familiar political faces — First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Colin L. Powell, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton,  Bill Clinton and assorted senators — was that of R&B singer Usher.

"Were you invited by the White House?" Essence's Obama Watch blogger Cynthia Gordy asked the singer.

"I decided to come on my own," said the singer, who is the youth chair on the board of Service Nation, a national volunteer service campaign. “Whenever I can come out to an event like this to make service a priority for our youth, I'm here."

Gordy also asked Usher how President Obama is doing.

“I think he’s doing a very good job,” he said. “I wouldn’t want it for anything in the world, but he’s changing the country one day at a time.”

Do you agree with Usher? How do you think Obama is doing?
