Thanks to tabloid reports we know that one of the “Project Runway” Season 10 designers left the competition by sneaking out in the middle of the night following a challenge, and the Thursday, Aug. 2 episode revealed that it was 58-year-old New Yorker Andrea Katz who packed her bags and fled without so much as an “Auf Wiedersehen” from Heidi Klum.
Despite the fact that much of the episode focused on the drama between Andrea and her 24-year-old partner Christopher Palu, who won the first challenge of the season, neither went home for their disastrous dress that guest judge Krysten Ritter said reminded her of a Halloween costume you’d buy at the drug store.
But there had to be a reason that producers harped so heavily on their disagreements, and we realized in the final moments of the episode why. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until next week to find out the aftermath of Andrea’s exit, but in the meantime we’ll have to speculate why she decided to leave and why she did it so mysteriously. Did the pressure get to her? Was she still discouraged by last week’s apron-gate? Was she hurt that Christopher totally told the judges the truth about what she said?
Something to consider: that the episode barely focused on Raul before booting him means he’ll get to come back and compete, right?
Also: reports have another contestant walking out after fretting about whether his skills were up to par with the rest of the designers, and after the third challenge it’s pretty clear that it’ll be Kooan, right? That should come into play next week too…
“Project Runway” airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
