richard greico holly robinson peete Holly Robinson Peete gives '21 Jump Street' remake her seal of approval“We both grew up watching the show and had a fondness for it,” Phil Lord, one of “21 Jump Street’s” two directors tells Zap2it at the movie’s premiere on Tuesday (March 13) in Hollywood.

“There’s the whole idea of going back to high school. A lot of details from the original are in there. Of course, we kept the Jump Street the same and the captain. We have a lot of cameos.”

His directing partner, Christopher Miller, concurs.

“The original show had so much sympathy for the kids they were investigating, and though it’s a funny movie, we thought about it the same way. I love all those characters,” Miller tells Zap2it. “I wanted them to be all right.”

Even those prone to the first version quickly saw the light, such as Holly Robinson Peete, also at the premiere, who was behind the original series.
“I like Jonah and Channing, I really do,” says Peete.”I think they’re going to do it justice. When I went in to film my cameo, I was amazed at their comedic timing. I felt they could maintain the integrity of the program. But you know, in the end, it’s a comedy; it’s about making people laugh.”
