Sure, Will Ferrell made fun of Toronto mayor Rob Ford when he appeared in-character as Ron Burgundy on “Conan.” The two have some history though, which Will explained during a trip to “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Monday (Dec. 16) to promote “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.”
Will was in Toronto to do some promotional work for “The Campaign,” alongside his co-star Zach Galifianakis, and spent some time with Mayor Ford, “pre-enjoyment” of crack, as he likes to call it. “We got to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame,” Will says. “We got to pull up in a Zamboni. I got to drive a Zamboni through the streets of Toronto, which is great because I got to drive and Zach for to stand there and wave at people, muttering, ‘This is the worst day of my life.'”
Then the two actors attended a press conference, where they were introduced by Mayor Ford. When Ferrell asked the those in attendance to give Ford a hand, it didn’t go too well. “Not even a smattering of applause,” Will remembers. “Just two people.” Of course, he had to point out how bad the applause was to the mayor, which got a laugh out of everyone.
Sounds like a good time in Toronto.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
