"I’m just looking for ways to be contributive," Kilmer has said of his desire to run for governor of New Mexico, reported by the Los Angeles Times on Thursday. "And if that ends up being where I can make a substantial contribution, then I’ll run."
But there’s been no firm decision yet.
"It’s really day to day," he told the Associated Press over tea.
The 49-year-old actor grew up in Los Angeles and has starred films such as "Top Gun," "Batman" and "The Doors," but he has lived in New Mexico for more than 20 years.
A Kilmer candidacy could really amuse Lt. Gov. Diane Denish, who’s already running for the job.
Kilmer has warns that if he runs, it would not be a conventional campaign.
He says he will listen more than talk.
"What I do for a living is listen," he said, bravely predicting: "If I run, I’m going to be the next governor."
Wait, we thought what he did for a living was pretend to be people he’s not and fool everyone?
What do you think? Would Val Kilmer make a good governor? Dog catcher?
