Nearly a year after he was stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to injury, Daniel Bryan has vacated another title. During an appearance on the May 11 episode of “WWE Raw,” Bryan relinquished the Intercontinental Championship he won at “WrestleMania 31.”
Once again, his wrestling future is in doubt due to injury. According to Bryan, he’s seen a number of doctors and undergone an MRI since his “WrestleMania 31” victory and it’s unknown whether he’ll be able to step in the ring ever again. While Bryan says his injury could be healed in weeks or months, there’s also the possibility that he’ won’t be able to be medically cleared to compete in the future.
Bryan last competed on the April 14 episode of “Smackdown,” teaming with John Cena before WWE pulled him from all advertised appearances. While he may not be able to compete in the ring, Bryan has signed on to be part of the panel of judges for WWE’s reality competition series “Tough Enough,” alongside Hulk Hogan and Paige.
