renee young wwe announcer WWE names Renee Young first female announcer since 2005

After joining WWE in 2012 as a backstage interviewer, WWE has named Renee Young the newest addition to the “WWE Superstars” announce team. The new job makes Young the first female commentator the company has used since 2005.
Throughout her two years with the company, Young has been utilized in a variety of ways. In addition to a interviewing superstars, she has served as host to pay-per-view pre-shows, podcasts and even as one of the commentators in WWE’s developmental system, NXT.
Now, as an announcer on WWE programming, she’s not taking the opportunity lightly. “I feel there is definitely a certain amount of pressure, not only as a performer and broadcaster but representing women who may not even know this is something that they want to do,” she says in an interview with “I can show other women that if you’re not a Diva and you still want to be involved in WWE, there’s so much you can do. It’s definitely really cool to be in the position to create a bit of a niche for myself and other women.”
Previously, WWE featured former divas Lita and Ivory at the commentary desk on “Sunday Night Heat.”
