We don’t often like the sob-story segments on shows like “American Idol,” “America’s Got Talent” and now “The X Factor.” Lots of people have sad stories and it’s not fair that only some of them get showcased.
However. Trash collector Chris Rene‘s story of being a dad and having a drug problem, then being clean and sober now for 70 days was necessary in order to explain his original song “Young Homey,” which was surprisingly good. It was very touching.
Both Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid were quick to point out that he better stay clean, that’s part of the deal. We admit to feeling a little nervous for him, since 70 days sober is not a lot and “The X Factor” is a high-pressure, high-profile situation. But major props to him for straightening out his life. We hope he is successful on the show.
What did you think, “X Factor” fans?
