yoko ono birthday gi Yoko Ono turns 80 and releases a dance song called 'Hold Me'

Artist and peace activist Yoko Ono turned 80 years old Monday. Ono is, of course, most well known as the wife of the late John Lennon, singer and guitarist for The Beatles.
Lennon’s relationship with Ono caused tension within the band, as he insisted she attend recording sessions, though a long-standing rule with the members was no girlfriends allowed in the studio. The band split in 1969, and Lennon went on to record music with Ono.
Ono was with Lennon when he was killed outside of their apartment building in 1980, as they had been returning home from the studio, where they were recording an album together, “Double Fantasy.”
Though many fans have always maintained that Ono was the reason the band split up, Paul McCartney doesn’t quite agree. In a 2012 interview with the Guardian, McCartney says, “She certainly didn’t break the group up,” adding, “I don’t think you can blame her for anything.” Sir Paul also credits Ono for helping John craft one of his best pieces of work, “Imagine.”

Ono is still active in the art and music world, recently releasing a new song, a dance track recorded with producer Dave Aud, called “Hold Me,” which you can listen to below.

You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..."
