Having a condom fall out of his pocket onto red carpet for the premiere of his new movie “The Lorax” probably was pretty embarrassing for Zac Efron. Not as embarrassing as it would have been for a tampon to fall out of co-star Taylor Swift‘s purse, but still.

At least he’s not trying to to cover it up (“Er, it was actually tape, not a condom.”) The 24-year-old actor confessed to attending the movie completely prepared in case the after party got wild.

“I never really had a pocket-checking policy prior to going on the red carpet before, but now we fully instated one,” Efron assures “Today Show” host Matt Lauer, pointing out that safe sex is actually “a great message to add to the messages of the film.”

Way to bridge back to talking about your movie, Zac.
