zach galifianakis homeless woman gi Zach Galifianakis taking formerly homeless woman to 'Hangover 3' premiere

When Zach Galifianakis walks the red carpet at Monday’s (May 20) premiere for “The Hangover Part III,”, he’ll have an old friend on his arm. Elizabeth “Mimi” Haist has known the comedian and actor for nearly 20 years, after they met in a laundromat she volunteered at, working for tips..
Zach first met 87-year-old Elizabeth at the laundromat in 1994, though he stopped using the facilities after the success of the first “Hangover.” However, when he learned two years ago that Haist had become homeless, he immediately found her a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment, and has paid the rent and utilities since.
Now Zach takes her with him to premieres when he’s in the Los Angeles area. Haist spoke with the New York Daily News about going to the events, saying, “I dress up nice and a friend helps me with my makeup. It’s fun, not something I’ve ever dreamed I’d experience. The limo takes me home afterwards.”
Haist has also accompanied the actor to premieres for “The Hangover Part II” and “The Campaign.” “All the fans were taking photos and I waved at them, I said, ‘They don’t know who I am!'” she says, recalling the experiences.
This time out people will definitely know who Haist is when she joins Galifianakis, and his co-stars Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper, at the premiere for “The Hangover Part III,” which is in theaters May 24.

You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
