Zooey Deschanel had another shot at the national anthem when she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” before Game 3 of the 2012 World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers. So, how’d she do?
This wasn’t Deschanel’s first time on the World Series field — the “New Girl” star also sang the anthem during the 2011 series. While she went with a red getup her first time, this year she went neutral with red accents.
Deschanel dressed snazzily for the TV cameras in a sparkly nude dress with a red belt and sparkly red pumps, complete with sparkly eyeshadow to highlight those baby blues of hers.
Her classic alto voice was solid, although she was a little shaky on the “land of the free” line toward the end of the song. Overall, it was a solid performance.
She follows in the footsteps of her fellow FOX stars, including “American Idol” Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips and “Glee” star Matthew Morrison. The next of the network’s anthem singers is none other than “X Factor” judge Demi Lovato, who also sang the anthem in 2011.
What did you think of Deschanel’s second World Series anthem?
