saturday night live valentines day sketches 14 classic 'Saturday Night Live' Valentine's Day sketches to help you celebrateIt’s quite the weekend, gang — not only is Saturday Valentine’s Day, but Sunday (Feb. 15) is the night “Saturday Night Live” is celebrating forty years on NBC by bringing back dozens of cast members in a three-and-a-half-hour extravaganza.

To honor this wondrous confluence of events, here are some of “SNL’s” greatest Valentine’s Day sketches, from Adam Sandler’s “Red Hooded Sweatshirt” song to Stuart Smalley’s Valentine’s Daily Affirmation, from quirky Zooey Deschanel to quirky Garth & Kat, from Justin Bieber sexy V-Day message to an Alec Baldwin/Kim Basinger monologue from 1994 that is extra funny 20 years later.

Kevin Nealon is the unsung hero of several of these sketches — “sham-a-lama-ding-dong” — which is kind of a metaphor for his entire run on “Saturday Night Live.” And you definitely can’t miss out on Dana Carvey as Jacques Cousteau in a very weird Valentine’s Day Weekend Update segment from 1987.

That’s also the oldest sketch here, because unfortunately older sketches are not as easily accessible, but chances are good there will be plenty of old classics during the 40th anniversary celebration, which kicks off Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
