Josiah Duggar and Marjorie Jackson have ended their courtship, according to People.
The two began courting four months ago, but their families say in a joint statement that they don’t believe Josiah and Marjorie’s coupling is the Lord’s will and have decided to simply remain friends.
“Both Josiah and Marjorie have enjoyed getting to know each other and to build their friendship over the past months,” the statement reads. “We are so grateful that they each are seeking the Lord’s will for their future. A few weeks ago Marjorie and Josiah agreed to end their courtship, keeping in step with what they believe the Lord’s will is. Both are thankful for the time getting to know each other, and their families continue to enjoy each other’s company and close friendship.”
The courtship was revealed on April 6, about five weeks before the Duggar family made national headlines because of the sexual molestation scandal surrounding eldest Duggar son, Josh. The subsequent fallout included advertisers pulling their commercials from the series, a reportedly new investigation into the family and TLC eventually cancelling the show for good. A spinoff about sexual abuse survivors is in the works.
