'The Brink'

This just goes to show that even shows that have been renewed are not safe. After a well-received first season and a Season 2 renewal, HBO had decided to instead cancel “The Brink” — a dark political comedy starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins.

The news comes from Entertainment Weekly, who obtained a statement from HBO. “After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give ‘The Brink’ the attention it deserves for a second season,” the network says. “We are proud of the first season and wish everyone involved in this show the very best.”

It’s unclear what cause HBO to change their minds on moving forward with a second season of “The Brink.” “Ballers,” the comedy it was paired with, remains on track for a return in 2016.
