'Mad Men,' 'That 70s Show' and 'Bates Motel'

If you love to smoke marijuana, chances are April 20 is a very special day. It’s practically a holiday to some, and even if it doesn’t get any official recognition, that won’t stop any annual 4/20 celebrations.
However, what’s there to do with your day to properly mark the occasion? Why not binge-watch some of TV’s most marijuana-friendly shows? While smoking pot is still illegal in many states, TV has been known to experiment over the years.
Take a look below at some of Zap2it’s favorite weed-fueled shows. Perhaps one of them will be just what you’re looking for.

It’s entirely likely “Weeds” is the king of marijuana shows — or queen, if Mary-Louise Parker has anything to say about it. The Showtime series saw suburban mom Nancy Botwin (Parker) become one of the biggest pot dealers in California, taking her family along for the insanely dysfunctional ride. Still, the best scenes from the show always came when Andy (Justin Kirk) and Doug (Kevin Nealon) were getting high.

While originally “Mad Men” got a lot of attention for portraying drinking and smoking in the office, that was the early ’60s. As the show’s timeline progressed, pot became a part of the atmosphere — even occasionally in the office. The show may be coming to an end, but this moment and many more will live forever, awaiting your consumption.

It’s possible no other series demonstrated marijuana use as frequently as “That ’70s Show,” even if nobody ever actually picked up a joint or pipe. “The circle” became a sacred place on the show for anyone who entered it, showing what high school was like for some during the 1970s. It turns out you run out of things to talk about fairly quickly. Did you ever hear about the car that runs on water?

Sure, “Sons of Anarchy” was littered with murder, betrayal and everything else that makes it one of the bloodiest shows in the history of TV. That didn’t stop Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and the rest of Charming from constantly smoking pot. While they may not have been the friendliest potheads you’ll see on TV, they just couldn’t stay away from the stuff. Not even “Ellen” could disguise that fact, as you can see above.

If “Man Seeking Woman” does anything, it shows the dangers of what smoking too much pot can do to your brain. That said, it’s still insanely funny and wildly fascinating. Just the kind of think you want to watch while partaking.

When Lindsay (Linda Cardellini) had her first experience with marijuana on “Freaks and Geeks,” it was the start of a pretty amazing time in her life. Of course, with friends like hers there was bound to be plenty of pot to go around throughout the series.

“Bates Motel” takes an entirely different approach to marijuana, but it’s still a constant presence on the show. Rather than characters smoking it, Dylan (Max Thieriot) has a pot farm. With Norma’s (Vera Farmiga) motel not attracting a ton of business, Dylan is the successful one in the family.

Have any three characters ever gotten less done than Blake (Blake Anderson), Adam (Adam DeVine) and Ders (Anders Holm) on “Workaholics”? It’s easy to accomplish to little when your primary reason for existence is getting high. Yet somehow, they are the kings of their world. Those three are living the dream.

You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
