Daisy Johnson might end up running SHIELD in the Marvel Comic books, but Chloe Bennet's character isn't gunning for the job on "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD."

Zap2it spoke with Bennet and Clark Gregg after he noted in "Agents of SHIELD's" Comic-Con panel that Daisy does end up becoming SHIELD's director in some corners of the Marvel universe. But when asked if the pair would like to see that happen on the ABC series, both were vehemently against it.

"Everyone's trying to get rid of my job," Gregg says with a laugh. "That's in the comics!"

"I believe that Daisy is loyal to Coulson," Bennet continues. "She started off in the show as really being against SHIELD, and I believe that she stands for the version of SHIELD that Coulson has taught her."

That being said, Gregg believes "Agents of SHIELD" exists in a world where Daisy running SHIELD is a possible outcome -- and she would be good at the job.

"I think she has consistently challenged Coulson's expectations and surprised him in a way that's blown him away and changed his mind and his heart," he says. "He's far too smart, in my opinion, to not be considering that she has the potential to do anything, including run Secret Warriors, or run SHIELD, or run the world."

The synopsis for Season 3 reveals: "In the aftermath of SHIELD’s battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson will search the world for more powered people and assemble an extraordinary new team to deal with threats unlike the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of SHIELD will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans."

"Agents of SHIELD" returns on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
