After last week’s heartstopping betrayal, the main reason to tune in to April 26th’s episode “The Singularity” was an obvious one: What’s Daisy going to be like as a bad guy? With only a handful of episodes remaining before the season finale, things are getting tight — and it seems like SHIELD’s enemies are multiplying by the minute.

“Just being around you, I can feel it,” Daisy tells Hive (Brett Dalton) at one point, talking like a junkie to her dealer. “It’s like this emptiness I’ve always had is gone.”

With Hive building an Inhuman army and Mae … well, really ticked off, you just new a big clash was inevitable. Sure enough, shortly before it aired the show began teasing an upcoming death, so the actors on the show might not want to buy real estate any time soon.

“Daisy is still one of us,” Coulson says of his agent’s defection. “What she did here was not of her own free will; Hive infected her … But, this alien creature messed with the wrong team.”

Which isn’t to say that there wasn’t some time for love, Doctor Jones. Fitz and Simmons advanced their romance quite a bit, and showed that they clean up nicely. Fans who root for these two will undoubtedly be thrilled. But with the two of them so seemingly happy, early money seems to be on Fitz being the big upcoming death.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. - "The Singularity" - The S.H.I.E.L.D. team is left reeling and decimated as Hive continues to sway Inhumans to his side. But there is a sliver of hope as Agents Fitz and Simmons follow a lead that may be able to stop the maniacal Inhuman once and for all, on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," TUESDAY, APRIL 26 (9:00-10:00 p.m. EDT) on the ABC Television Network. Less thrilling, however, were implications that Daisy and Hive had a romance of their own, which could make for some icky upcoming scenes.

The coolest thing about “SHIELD,” however, is that even in its darkest moments the show still has a sense of humor. Exhibit A is Coulson unveiling a virtual Captain America-like shield that he can use in moments of danger. “I thought it would be cool if the director of SHIELD had a shield,” he explains with a smile.

But ultimately, at this point his greatest weapon is Mae, and she reminds him of that. “I’ll do your dirty work, Phil,” she says. “But don’t you dare pretend your hands are clean.”

While “The Singularity” was thrilling, the show can’t help but be a bummer at this point, because fan-favorite Daisy has turned her back on her SHIELD family, and doesn’t even seem to realize it.

“Stop trying to save me,” she says, leaving fans with little hope for the future — but it seems likely they’ll keep tuning in anyway.
