The first official trailer for “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson” is here and it’s … very Murphy-licious.
Sure, that’s not a real phrase but when referring to any Ryan Murphy program, one must expect the stylized choices by both the director and his cast to be dialed up to eleven. By the looks of things, this show will not disappoint.
When the news first hit that Murphy was creating a new series inspired by cases, such as the O.J. Simpson trial, many were intrigued as this was the first time such an event grasped pop culture in such a way. Every channel ran news coverage of the trial non-stop, day-in and day-out, that it was difficult to avoid.
Then the casting photos were released, putting John Travolta in his best Robert Shapiro wig and Cuba Gooding Jr. in his best O.J. … uh, face. While the case itself became a pop culture phenomenon, the revisiting of the tale two decades later may prove riveting in its own right.
Just watch the above trailer. This looks to be worth it, if for no other reason, than witnessing David Schwimmer’s turn as Kim Kardashian’s dad Robert. Seriously, look at that wig!
“American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson” also stars Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, Selma Blair as Kris Jenner, Connie Britton as Faye Resnick, Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden, Kenneth Choi as Judge Lance Ito, Bruce Greenwood as Gil Garcetti, and Nathan Lane as F. Lee Bailey.
The series will premiere on Tuesday, February 2 on FX.
