Sunday (March 20) was the closing night of PaleyFest 2016 and found Ryan Murphy “American Horror Story” gang out to celebrate “Hotel.” While Evan Peters and Lady Gaga were not in attendance, the series was celebrated yet again for its sexy and gruesome story twists.

Unlike previous years, however, Murphy was tightlipped regarding where the next season of “AHS” will take us. The rumor circulating that the next iteration of the series would be inspired by Slender Man may actually be just that, a rumor.

At the panel, Murphy said, “We’ve been working on two ideas at once, which we’ve never done, so I don’t want to say what it is, but … it will have a different form than we’ve ever done.” Different form? If we’re talking story structure, maybe the best way to take the genre series is to space.

Working on two ideas at once could simply lend to the concept of two different seasons airing in one year. It may be a far out concept but it’s one Murphy has mentioned previously.

While starting off the panel saying he wants “American Horror Story” to go on for “decades and decades,” it’s possible the program could run out of steam. Then again, Denis O’Hare did suggest a compelling season title: “American Horror Story: Retirement Home.”

So, we have no theme and no title as of yet. But regarding the cast, it’s already been announced that Angela Bassett and Lady Gaga will be returning. As for everyone else, well …

Seriously, though … if Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk don’t have one idea firmly locked down for the next season, going to outer space may still be in the cards. Can you tell where our allegiances lie?

Rest assured, Internet. An announcement will be coming soon … we hope.
