one direction american music awards performance One Direction slows it down for 'Night Changes' AMAs 2014 performance
On Sunday (Nov. 23) British boy band One Direction delivered a truly swoon worthy  performance at the 2014 American Music Awards.

Performing their single “Night Changes” off of their newly released forth studio album “Four,” Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson took to the stage clad in black suits. Harry’s jacket was decorated with a Michael Jackson-esque gold embroidery while the other four other boys kept it stark and simple.

Even the set for the performance was dark. The screen behind the British boy band resembled a moonlight field with an unlit country road running through the middle. The quintet performed their new single in their now-typical round robin set up, standing in a half circle and taking their perspective turns at their microphones, making it look like they were performing in a meadow.
“Night Changes” is the second single from “Four” and carries a much softer tone than “Steal My Girl.” It’s a love song to make their teenage fans melt in front of their television screens. The song shows the boys’ exploration of more folk inspired pop and performances that focus more on their singing than stereotypical boy band dance moves (though any One Direction fans know that dancing has never been their forte).
