The moment it was announced NBC was canceling “Constantine,” it was reported that the series is being shopped to other networks. Based on tweets from the stars of “Arrow,” “Supernatural” and “The Originals,” it seems the most likely fit is on The CW.
With other DC Comics properties — “Arrow,” “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow” — building a shared universe on the network, it may not be a bad idea for “Constantine” to join that lineup. Luckily, it’s something the executive producers of “Arrow” are thinking about for the future.
Speaking to Variety, “Arrow” executive producer Marc Guggenheim admits, “It comes up in the writers’ room constantly — we have a number of ideas, one idea that’s particularly exciting to me.”
The idea stage is about as far as it can go at this point, though. “It would be wonderful and we certainly have a million ideas — It’s hard for me to say mainly because A: it’s not my decision to make and B: with ‘Constantine’ being shopped around to other networks … it’s really hard to make plans when a show’s kind of in limbo.”
Still, knowing that “Arrow” executive producers have talked about the possibility of integrating “Constantine” into their world — and have what Guggenheim calls a “strong desire” to make it happen — is a very satisfying notion. Perhaps John (Matt Ryan), Chas (Charles Halford) and Zed (Angelica Celaya) can explain to Team Arrow exactly how the Lazarus Pit works.
