We're hitting the home stretch in "Ash vs. Evil Dead" Season 2 and by there are multiple threats coming at our team of heroes from all sides. Not only does it look like Baal (Joel Tobeck) has Ash (Bruce Campbell) just where he wants him -- can the Jefe really go dark? -- but we also have major concerns about Pablo.
Season 1 may have put him through the wringer but this time around, it seems that Ash's right-hand man may be having his own evil transformation. And while the Necronomicon seems to be manifesting itself inside Pablo's body, Kelly has taken on all the vengeful traits that Ash (Bruce Campbell) had in another life.
With questions mounting regarding where the duration of the season will go, Screener had a chance to sit down with Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo and pick their brains about all things Deadite-related.
"She's very vulnerable but also, she's frustrated," DeLorenzo says of Kelly's story this season. "She just wants revenge. She just wants every Deadite head hanging above her bed." Affirming that Kelly's only purpose is to wipe the threat of evil from the planet, it feels like she may be the one stepping up in Ash's place when the time comes.
And as for Pablo's fate on the show, Ray remains a bit coy. "Is he going to survive? Is he not going to survive?" Santiago continues, "Is this going to take him out? Have we seen the last of him?"
While these are all very pressing and important questions, Santiago did end up giving us a little nugget to take with us as we ponder the stakes and possible outcome of Season 2: "Does he become the Necronomicon? And is he good or is he bad? I'll leave you with that."
Not for nothing, but something tells us that if Ash remains compromised and Pablo goes full evil, Kelly may have two new foes to direct her vengeance at. After explaining her growing affinity for being covered in blood, we think she is the right person for the job.
"Ash vs. Evil Dead" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.
