The key phrase for Hulu in August seems to be a simple one: Watch more movies. Sure, there are a few series worth watching that are new to the platform: “You’re the Worst,” “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” and “Steven Universe,” among others. But if you’re a subscriber, your smartest move might be catching up on some cinematic classics you may have missed in the theaters.

For starters, if you’ve never geeked out on early Kevin Smith classics like “Clerks,” “Chasing Amy” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,”  you’ve got some watching to do. Next up, such classics as “Beverly Hills Cop,” “Casino Royale” and the “Bill & Ted” movies are most righteous.

But even if you’ve seen all the biggies, there’s a good chance that you have yet to indulge in the quirky Jim Jarmusch classic “Coffee and Cigarettes” (complete with an amazing Bill Murray cameo), “The Puffy Chair” (aka, the movie that launched the Duplass Brothers) or “The Limey” (one of Steven Soderbergh’s best films). Also available for your eyeball enrichment is the sexy/scary sci-fi of the “Species” films and Steve Buscemi’s tragically-underrated directorial debut “Trees Lounge.”

So what are you waiting for? Pop some corn, grab a comfy seat and start your very own film festival at home.
