“Biggest Loser” fans rejoice! The mourning over host Alison Sweeney’s departure can now be replaced with celebration over the fact that Bob Harper, everyone’s favorite nice guy trainer, has been named host of the long-running weight loss show’s 17th season.
The new season begins production in September, during which Harper will “be offering a new perspective as host, guiding contestants through all weigh-ins, challenges and temptations,” NBC announced Tuesday (Sept. 8). Harper had moved from regular trainer to running Comeback Canyon in Season 16.
“I’m super excited about taking the position of host on ‘The Biggest Loser,'” Harper says. “I’ve been with the show since Season 1 so I know all of the ins and outs, and let me tell you, the weigh-in room is going to be a completely different ballgame with me at the steering wheel.”
Familiar “Biggest Loser” trainer faces Dolvett Quince and Jennifer Widerstrom will also return for Season 17, training eight teams of two, which is a return to the show’s team vs. team competition format.
