Britney Spears is coming to the MTV Video Music Awards stage Sunday (Aug. 28) for the first time in nearly a decade.

With that in mind, Zap2it wants to take a look back at her VMA highlights -- well, four highlights and one lowlight.

5. 'Gimme More,' 2007

This performance was not Britney's best. She seemed sluggish and the lip syncing, which is par for the course with someone who dances so much while performing, was especially out of sync.

4. 'Oops, I Did It Again,' 2000

The opening cover of the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" was a little weird, but things heated up when Spears launched into her iconic red leather bodysuit song -- though this time, it was in a sparkly nude bodysuit.

3. 'Like a Virgin,' 2003

Madonna open-mouth kissing Britney Spears -- it was the smooch heard 'round the world. Thirteen years ago this seemed so scandalous. Now? Pfft.

2. 'Baby, One More Time,' 1999

Britney was such a baby 17 years ago when she performed on the VMAs stage for the first time, but her first hit is still an iconic pop song. This performance has the added bonus of pairing Britney up with her then-boyfriend and his boy band NSync on "Tearin' Up My Heart."

1. 'I'm a Slave 4 U,' 2001

Easily Britney's best VMAs performance, this one had it all -- sexy gypsy outfit, killer abs, feisty dance moves and a giant snake. What more could you ask for?

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards air Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
