The cat is out of the bag: Carrie Underwood is expecting a baby boy … or so Brad Paisley says.
In the opening segment of the 48th Annual CMA Awards, host Paisley “accidentally” revealed that his co-host, Underwood, is expecting a son. That’s right — Paisley managed to ruin the “American Idol” winner’s surprise on stage in front of millions of viewers. (OK, fine — it was probably pre-planned.)
In the returning hosts’ first bit for the show, Underwood — who previously announced via Instagram that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Mike Fisher — jokingly whispered the sex of her baby into Paisley’s ear. When she did, she made sure to stay away from the microphone so the audience wouldn’t hear.
Unfortunately for Underwood, Paisley couldn’t keep his mouth shut for long. After asking Paisley if he thinks Garth Brooks would sign her baby, Paisley let the news slip.
“Oh that’d be great,” Paisley said. “Hey! We could name him Garth!”
Whoops! “What are you doing? What is wrong with you?” Underwood quipped back. “Well, you kept that secret for a whole two minutes.” Still not totally clear confirmation, but based on Underwood’s publicist’s response, it sounds safe to assume a baby boy is on the way.
According to Paisley, the hashtag of the reveal should be #BradBlewIt, and that sounds about right. Tsk, tsk. At least he had given her baby gifts before the awards show began to prematurely make up for his totally pre-planned slip up.
