In what could be the final shot in the great dubsmash war of 2015 between the casts of “Agents of SHIELD” and “Agent Carter,” Captain America himself, Chris Evans, has gotten involved.
After posting dueling Instagram videos throughout San Diego Comic-Con, “Agents of SHIELD” thought they had the win when Clark Gregg dressed as Hayley Atwell’s “Agent Carter” character for a rendition of Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”
That was until Atwell and “Agent Carter” co-star James D’Arcy enlisted Evans — in his Captain America costume — to star in their final video, set to “Another One Bites the Dust,” also from Queen. This performance hits close to home, as they shred a signed photo of Captain America meant for Gregg’s Agent Coulson.
Atwell, D’Arcy and Evans then claimed their ultimate victory with a celebration video, making reference to “Dirty Dancing,” which stars Gregg’s wife Jennifer Grey.
What can Bennet and Gregg possibly do to top involving one of the Avengers in their ongoing war? Coulson may need to call on his old pal Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) to settle this score.
If you haven’t been following the dubsmash war between the two casts, Zap2it had pieced together a comprehensive look at the back-and-forth battle.
It all started innocently enough on Friday (July 10) when Atwell posted a harmless dubsmash of herself and D’Arcy having a bit of fun.
That didn’t sit well with Gregg, who quickly fired back with a video of his own featuring Bennett, challenging them to a war.
With the gauntlet thrown down, Atwell quickly accepted the challenge with a pair of videos of herself and D’Arcy — singing The B52’s and Taylor Swift, with a special appearance by the screaming goat.
After that one-two punch, Gregg and Bennet shared their rendition of Rihanna’s “B**** Better Have My Money” to get back in the game.
However, that just made Atwell and D’Arcy go meta, with a dubsmash of themselves lip syncing “Uh Oh,” the single Bennet released in China.
Her reaction upon seeing it the first time is just priceless.
That’s when “Agents of SHIELD” pulled out the big guns, with a full-cast performance of “We Are the Champions,” complete with Gregg dressed as Agent Carter.
While that might have put the final nail in the coffin of both wars, it was clear tensions were still high when Bennet and Gregg faced off against Atwell and D’Arcy in a group video, singing Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” at each other.
After that, all was quiet at Comic-Con came to an end and both casts left San Diego. That is until Atwell and D’Arcy’s enlisting of Captain American into the fight. Where it goes from there is anyone’s guess.
