chris wallace kelly clarkson gi Chris Wallace apologizes to Kelly Clarkson for his 'offensive' fat shaming commentFollowing Twitter backlash, FOX anchor Chris Wallace has apologized for the fat-shaming comments he made towards Kelly Clarkson during an interview on “The Mike Gallagher Show.”

“I sincerely apologize to Kelly Clarkson for my offensive comment,” Wallace said in a statement. “I admire her remarkable talent and that should have been the focus of any discussion about her.”

On Friday (April 3), the host of “FOX News Sunday” made a radio appearance and he, along with host Mike Gallagher — who has also since apologized — made several offensive comments about the former “American Idol” singer. The two men were talking about Little Caesars’ bacon-wrapped crust pizza when they then began to discuss Clarkson’s weight.

“Have you seen Kelly Clarkson?,” Gallagher asked Wallace. “Holy cow, did she blow up.”

Although Wallace at first commented that the singer has “a lovely voice,” he then said, “She could stay off the deep-dish pizza for a little while.”

On that same day, an “Ellen” episode aired in which Clarkson discussed her weight.

“I’ll have a meet and greet after a show and a girl that is, like, bigger than me will be in the meet and greet. They’ll say, ‘If they think you’re big, I must be so fat to them,'” said Clarkson. “You are who you are! Whatever size — it doesn’t mean you’re going to be like that forever.”
