Jimmy Kimmel welcomed a very special guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday (Feb. 12), introducing this new writer with, “I knew of him as a kid. He was actually someone who was kind of a role model for me, and he showed some interest in working here, so I thought, “Why not give him a shot?'”

It’s “Sesame Street” star Cookie Monster! And he’s got his own particular brand of jokes — it would be a shame to spoil Cookie Monster’s punchlines, so just watch the video.

As it turns out, Cookie Monster is not quite cut out for comedy writing, but they do find another job for him to do around the studio with Guillermo. It’s all in support of the very first Cookie Monster special, “The Cookie Thief,” which co-stars Rachel Dratch and premieres Monday, Feb. 16 on PBS Kids. It kicks off a week of new “Sesame Street” episodes.
