When referring to Laurie Hernandez -- better known as one member of the Final Five -- breaking records is old hat. Once she finished obliterating the competition during the Summer Olympics, she has continued showcasing her skills in Season 23 of "Dancing with the Stars."
The young gymnast may not be the first olympic athlete to take part in the series -- there have been many -- but on Monday (Oct. 3), she made history by becoming the first olympian to achieve a perfect score in just four episodes' time.
Coming close to that score was olympic ice dancer, Meryl Davis. During Week 4 of Season 18, she received 29 points from the show's regular judges. Robin Roberts sat in as a guest judge for that episode, rewarding another 10 points to the olympian ... but given that there were no guest judges in the new episode -- aside from Julianne Hough sitting in for Len Goodman -- we're scratching that from the record.
Week 4 of "DWTS" was all about Cirque du Soleil. The performance troupe was in the building, assisting with every performance that graced the stage. For Laurie and Val, their presence was just icing on the cake. Tackling a jazz routine, the two led the audience through a vibrant and energetic performance of Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel."
Also featured in Cirque du Soleil's "ONE," the number not only gave a nod to the classic MJ music video, it gave the song and dance a nice upgrade for the "DWTS" crowd. Receiving 10's all around, it's looking like Hernandez is once again proving she's a force to be reckoned with. Ryan Lochte should be scared ... very scared.
"Dancing with the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
