Wynonna Judd is as ready to try “Dancing With the Stars” as she’ll ever be.
The country star will compete in the popular ABC contest’s 16th season starting Monday, March 18. Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet return as hosts, with Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and viewers at home judging a new celebrity field that also includes “American Idol” alum Kellie Pickler, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones, comic Andy Dick, most recent TV “Bachelor” Sean Lowe, and Olympians Dorothy Hamill and Aly Raisman.

Partnered with last fall’s “All-Stars” winner Tony Dovolani, Judd maintains she’s ready to take on all comers. She tells Zap2it, “I said to myself, ‘Self? Here is a list of things you will never do: sky diving, joining the circus, “Dancing With the Stars.” … ‘ They’d been asking me for six seasons, and I said I would rather share a bus with my mother for 10 years. And make sure you put ‘LOL’ after that.
“I’m the kind of person who, at the end of every year, asks myself what I’m going into the next year with. Back in August, after [my husband’s motorcycle] accident, I went into ‘nurse’ mode and became the caregiver that was absolutely necessary. He had his left leg amputated and couldn’t use the whole left side of his body. I also had to put a new tour together and take care of my teenagers, and I forgot to take time for myself.”

Thus Judd — named female artist of the year by the Academy of Country Music in 1994 — was more prone to accept when “Dancing” called again. “My word for this year is ‘risk.’ I’m at a point in my life and career for something that is completely off my radar, that takes me out of my comfort zone and makes me refocus.”
Which especially should be the case when Judd’s mother, fellow singer Naomi, and actress sister Ashley are in the “Dancing” studio audience, as they inevitably will be. “They both looked at me as if I had told them as if I was going to try out for tight end of the Denver Broncos,” Wynonna muses of breaking her “Dancing” news to them. “Then they both looked at me and said, ‘You are going to have so much fun. That is so you.’ “
