“Empire” got a new leader in Wednesday night’s (Dec. 2) mid-season finale, titled “Et Tu, Brute?”
Naomi Campbell is the one in charge now. Well, technically her name on the show is Camilla Marks or … Camilla Marks-Whitman, wife of Mimi Whitman (Marisa Tomei) who took over full ownership of the company after the board ousted Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) with a vote from Hakeem (Bryshere Gray).
Camilla’s reign over the record company comes immediately after Mimi takes a leave of absence due to her ongoing battle with breast cancer. Now that Lucious has lost control over his beloved company, where does that leave the rest of the family? Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) becomes worried.
One thing is for sure, Hakeem is safe in the shakeup since Camilla claims to have pulled off the elaborate ploy to “take care” of him. It looks like the former lovers will have the company all to themselves when the show returns in March.
Equally shocking, and probably more sad, is the fate of Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday). The mommy-to-be was last seen unresponsive after being pushed down a set of stairs.
Social media is rallying together to figure out the culprit, but many quickly assume it to be Boo Boo Kitty — also known as Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey). Her pettiness has been festering all season ever since she was dumped by both Hakeem and his father Lucious.
According to the teaser, answers will be given when the series returns in March. “Empire” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
