grmm z nation George R.R. Martin pokes fun at Game of Thrones book delays in Z Nation cameo

George R.R. Martin has a cameo in a TV show, folks! One that is not based on any of his books.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the “Game of Thrones” author will make an appearance in Season 2 of SyFy’s post-apocalyptic thriller “Z Nation.” And before you “GoT” book fans throw up your arms to complain about how Martin should be writing and not cameo-ing, take a moment to appreciate the cheekiness of Martin’s cameo: He’s playing a zombie-fied version of himself who, in the show, looks to be at a book signing for his latest book, “A Promise of Spring.”

Any dedicated “Song of Ice and Fire” fan will understand that fictional title is a clear nod to “A Dream of Spring,” the suspected title of his eventual seventh and final novel in the saga.

“I just want to prove to my fans that even in the Zombie Apocalypse, the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ books will still come out!” Martin tells EW of his cameo.

Martin is still working on the series’ sixth book, “The Winds of Winter,” which doesn’t yet have a release date, much to the disappointment of eager, impatient book fans.
