Just when it looks like there may be hope for Melissa McCarthy to return to the “Gilmore Girls” reunion, fans’ hopes are dashed yet again.

McCarthy and her “Gilmore Girls” co-star Yanic Truesdale reunited for a dinner date on Sunday (March 6), and snapped an adorable selfie together. Truesdale captioned the photo, “Scotch, great meal and catching up with my old friend @melissamccarthy, can’t ask for more! Don’t read anything into it guys.”

It’s that last part that has us all down in the dumps.

Don’t read too much into it? Have you met “Gilmore Girls” fans? They read into everything!

If McCarthy is hanging out in L.A and making time to catch up with her old Stars Hollow buddies, it’s only natural to think that whatever bridges were burned between her and the revival might finally be on the mend.

After all, McCarthy’s Sookie and Truesdale’s Michel were in the majority of each other’s scenes at the beginning of the series. Anyone could assume that this cute little selfie might have been taken on the “Gilmore Girls: Seasons” set, which is probably why Truesdale felt the need to clarify exactly what the photo was — and what it was not — in the caption.
