Thursday night’s (May 12) “Grey’s Anatomy” episode was entitled “At Last,” and let me tell you, that’s exactly what I screamed the moment the front door swung open revealing Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) making sucking face with Dr. Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson)! This woman needs to get laid so bad. She hasn’t had sex since Derek (Patrick Dempsey), understandably an extremely hard phase to go through, but her sexual frustration was wreaking havoc on the household.
No one sees the way Meredith snaps at me sometimes for her tea not being the right temperature, Zola wearing the wrong color t-shirt for soccer practice, or not keeping the spare bottle of whiskey hidden enough so that Maggie (Kelly McCreary) can’t find it. But tonight, everyone saw Grey snap at Amelia (Caterina Scorsone).
Dang! Personally, I always appreciated Auntie Amelia’s presence around the house. She always makes sure there’s chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream in the freezer — my favorite — and for my birthday last year, she took care of all three of Mer’s kids so I could take the day off. We also enjoy reminiscing about Derek.
Everything from his inability to change diapers, to … how in the world he could be the nation’s top brain surgeon but be completely unable to talk on the phone and prepare a bottle for Bailey at the same time. She enjoys talking about her dead brother. Meredith, on the other hand, does not.
I’m scared to even mention his name around Meredith. She gets a steely look on her face and tries so hard to pretend that the mere mention of her deceased husband’s name doesn’t feel like 10,000 knives are stabbing into her gut. Really, it breaks my heart. So, it made me quite happy that Riggs was able to call her out for her unwillingness to speak about how she really feels. I was elated! Like, I did a series of cart-wheels in the living room … that kind of excitement. Then Grey made a bold move on Riggs — I’m all about it.
In other Grey’s house news, I have a feeling that Karev (Justin Chambers) is going to be moving back in, since Jo (Camilla Luddington) turned his marriage proposal down. I’ve always had this weird feeling that Karev and Meredith are meant to be together in the end, so I’m curious as to whether this break-up will have an effect on Meredith and her new boy toy.
But as one roommate moves in, another will move out. Newly engaged Amelia will most likely be moving into Dr. Hunt’s new house very soon. I’m so excited for those two but I don’t want to be near either of them when they find out that Grey is hooking up with Riggs. I’m not saying anything. I promised Meredith I wouldn’t. (She never said anything about writing about it, okay?)
After next week, I’ll be going on a much needed vacation. But there are so many things to prepare before I leave. First, I need to shop for the kids’ outfits to wear for Amelia and Hunt’s (Kevin McKidd) wedding. Plus, I’m organizing April’s (Sarah Drew) baby shower because she’s about to pop at any moment now.
Something’s bound to go awry. So, I need to be prepared for everything from a spare dress for Meredith to wear in case Ellis spits up on her during the reception, to keeping guard by the ceremony door to make sure Amelia doesn’t go full runaway bride on the big day.
“Grey’s Anatomy” airs its Season 12 finale on Thursday, May 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
