The first full trailer for “Heroes Reborn,” NBC’s “Heroes” revival, is here, and it has exactly the type of footage the new series needed to show to convince fans old and new that it’s worth their time.
The minute-long video appropriately sets the stage for the return of the heroes. Everyone around the world has felt their absence since they disappeared (presumably at the same time the original “Heroes” went off the air in 2010), and many are asking the question, “Where are the heroes?” Cue a new eclipse and a new batch of superpowered people to fill the void.
About half the trailer introduces viewers to the world of “Heroes Reborn,” while the other half introduces the new players. Much of the footage lingers on newcomers Robbie Kay (“Once Upon a Time”), Kiki Sukezane (“Death Yankee 3”) and Ryan Guzman (“The Boy Next Door”), while there are also quick flashes focusing on Zachary Levi (“Chuck”), the most recognizable new actor to join the upcoming series.
But of course it wouldn’t be a good sequel teaser if the “Heroes Reborn” preview didn’t showcase former “Heroes.” Horn-Rimmed Glasses/Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) makes a brief appearance, while Hiro (Masi Oka) gets a dramatic entrance in the last moments of the video. Also returning to the series are Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, Jimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Dr. Mohinder Suresh and Christine Rose as Angela Petrelli.
Previously, the only trailer released for the series centered around the mysterious aurora that is also featured in this video. The synopsis for the series teases “a new era will dawn as ordinary people among us discover they’re extraordinary.”
“Heroes Reborn” premieres on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
