Many politicians have had celebrities endorse them publicly, but Hillary takes it to a new level with the stars of ABC’s TGIT encourage the public to vote for her in a new ad campaign. The advertisement, named “Real Life,” features Kerry Washington, Ellen Pompeo, Viola Davis and Shonda Rhimes who all beat the viewer over the head with girl power.
The women open up the clip by talking about their television characters. They note that they all portray strong women, who are considerably flawed in the political, medical and legal arenas. They also compare their female gladiators, life-savers or what-have-you to the great Hillary Clinton. Although, Olivia Pope should be the last person that Clinton should be associated with — for various reasons.
“Everyday I wake up and play a brilliant, complex, overqualified, get it done woman, who obsessively fights for justice, who cares, who gives a voice to the voiceless, who gets knocked down and always gets back up,” Washington, Pompeo and Davis state.
Rhimes joins in and tells the camera why she chooses to create stories with such strong women in them. She explains, “I make television filled with the kind of characters I imagine we all can be.”
The video is a special treat for the average fan of ABC’s prime-time lineup. Their favorite women then go to discussing the difference between television and reality, while pronouncing Clinton to be a real-life hero.
“Our characters are on television, but the real world has Hillary Clinton,” they say. “A bonafide, rolls up her sleeves, fight for what’s right, in it for you, won’t back down champion for all of us. That’s why I’m with Hillary. Join us.”
That was a message that Hillary was lucky to have approved. Your move, Bernie.
