Wes, Michaela and Nate after Annalise is shot on HTGAWM Season 2

“How to Get Away with Murder” is known for dropping a lot of truth bombs in its last few minutes, especially in the flash forward sequences. In Thursday’s (Oct. 15) episode, the final five minutes previewed so much that it’s hard to wrap your head around.

Don’t worry, it happened fast but help is on the way. Here’s what happened to help you keep things straight.

1. Annalise is not dead

An ambulance arrives to get Annalise (Viola Davis) and she arrives at the hospital still alive. She’s not out of the woods but she is not going to die in that mansion with her clueless students standing around her.

2. Nate is part of the plan

Nate (Billy Brown) is part of the plan, as after Annalise arrives at the hospital he’s seen chauffeuring Wes (Alfred Enoch), Michaela (Aja Naomi King), Laurel (Karla Souza) and Connor (Jack Falahee) to a shady apartment building. Whatever happened to Annalise was planned (though her potentially dying is not) — it just remains to be seen if Annalise was part of the plan or this is all Nate’s doing.

3. Michaela and Caleb are Season 2’s Wes & Rebecca

There’s nothing like a little romance to make a murder case more complicated. After interviewing Caleb  (Kendrick Sampson) in present day and sparking a connection, the flash forward reveals that Michaela and him obviously keep that up. That begs the question what happens to her and Seth (Matt Cohen)? Where is Catherine (Amy Oduka)?

It’s important to note that Michaela’s meeting with Caleb is her part of the “plan” and she’s expected not to screw it up. Caleb’s first question when he sees her is “Is she okay?,” which also adds questions: Does he mean Annalise? Catherine? Does he know who shot Annalise? Why is a client involved in this?

4. Annalise knows Wes and Nate are working together

The kickoff to the flash forward is Annalise seeing Wes and Nate talking, which means they are working together and that can’t mean anything good. It makes her have to question every time Nate has talked to her and why, and she has to worry that Wes will find out the truth about Rebecca (he has). It adds more fuel to the theory that Annalise was not part of the plan that got her shot, but her students turning against her.

5. Asher is a huge problem

Asher (Matt McGorry) has gone to an investigator with everything he knows about Sam Keating’s (Tom Verica) death. He’s convinced Annalise did it and has made an immunity deal before singing like a canary. Luckily, Bonnie (Liza Weil) catches him and confesses to Sam’s murder. That’ll cause Asher a conflict of heart and hopefully recant the statement he gave, and maybe the whole team won’t go down for murder.

“How to Get Away with Murder’s” emotional roller coaster continues Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
