Once upon a time, Alyssa Milano and Danny Pintauro were children together on the set of one of TV’s most beloved sitcoms. Over the course of 8 seasons and 196 episodes, they portrayed family members so many times that there were undoubtedly weeks when they saw each other more than their real families.
Now, more than 30 years after “Who’s the Boss” forever linked Milano and Pintauro, grown-up issues have them addressing grown-up emotions — but Milano insists that she still loves Pintauro like a little brother.
“He is a beacon of light, and he will be,” a crying Milano says on Tuesday’s “The Talk” (Sept. 29), discussing her former co-star’s recent revelation that he is HIV-positive. “I am proud.”
“I’m so grateful that this disease is now being discussed again,” she added. “Because it feels like there was such a long time that it wasn’t.”
Over the weekend, Pintauro appeared on "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" and talked openly about his drug use, sexuality and illness. Milano says that her former co-star was "very brave" and that she's happy that he has gotten everything out into the open after keeping it quiet for so long.
"I hate that it took him so long to feel comfortable, but I'm so glad that he is able to express himself now," she says. "And I guarantee you he will change so many lives."
