The surprise moment at the end of the Oct. 27 episode of “iZombie” saw Major (Robert Buckley) and Liv (Rose McIver) reunited and making out on the lead zombie’s front porch. What does this mean for the future of the formerly engaged couple?

Well, for Major it could be the thing that saves his life.

Things have been bad for the former social-worker-turned-zombie-assassin and the drug problem he’s developed certainly isn’t helping. However, after hitting rock bottom while trying to buy drugs from one of the kids he used to mentor, Liv may be Major’s key to survival.

“It’s not like he was struck by lightning and woke up a different person,” Buckley tells Zap2it and a handful of other outlets on a tour of the “iZombie” set. “I think he’s still the same guy in there and honestly if there’s any way for him to get back to that guy he was, it’s going to take something like connecting with Liv and being reminded of that.”

The difference this time is both Major and Liv are completely different people than they once were. Still, Buckley contends, the spark they still share could help them regain a piece of their former selves.

“I think sometimes you find yourself in your previous relationships or you’re reminded of something you had or who you used to be,” he says before adding that Major has “seriously lost his way.”

“iZombie” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
