Adorable “Room” star — and Critics’ Choice winner — Jacob Tremblay stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Tuesday (Feb. 2) to talk about his new film. But his best anecdote is about meeting Leonardo DiCaprio at the SAG Awards on Jan. 31.
“Kind of funny story — everyone was standing up to cheer for someone … I noticed Leonardo DiCaprio right in the chair behind us. So I just walked straight up to him. I noticed a huge line of people trying to meet him and i was just like, ‘Oh, I’m a kid. I can skip it.’ So I skipped it and I said hi,” says Tremblay.
“I said good luck to him and then he said good luck to me and he won, right? I didn’t win,” the 9-year-old actor adds. “So if you wanna win, you just have to come up to me.”
Tremblay also reveals that when he grows up he wants to be a screenwriter and director — but he isn’t telling anyone his ideas yet.
“I don’t want some Steven Spielberg, George Lucas or JJ Abrams to come and make millions of dollars off of my ideas,” he says.
“You’re a very smart fella. Those guys will steal anything,” cracks DeGeneres.
